In his role as Licensing Director for Merchandise, Partnerships and Interactive, Rikesh Desai oversees these business areas across BBC Studios’ drama, natural history, lifestyle and children’s portfolios in the UK and EMEA markets, in partnership with local teams and agencies.
Rikesh began his career at BBC Studios in 2012 as Head of Digital Innovation, where he established and successfully developed a multi-format franchise strategy focused on commercially leveraging emerging digital technologies, combining them with BBC content, brands and products.
He went on to take further responsibility for the Gaming & Interactive division as Global Digital Entertainment & Games Director, overseeing the delivery of successful digital products and games, before landing the role he’s in today.
Prior to working for BBC Studios, Rikesh was Group Head of Digital Services & Content Carphone Warehouse/Best Buy Europe. Rikesh has also held key roles within the mobile industry at T-Mobile and Vodafone.
Passionate about climate change and sustainable products, Rikesh is currently an advisor to the board of Ecologi, a subscription service helping individuals and businesses affordably become climate positive and take real action against climate change.
Rikesh has a Management Sciences BSc Hons degree and MBA Essentials qualification from London School of Economics.
